Multiple Teams · Bear Track and Field Programs and State Champions to be honored at City Council Meeting September 4th

William Chrisman Track and Field has achieved a great amount of success at the state level over the last few seasons. Going back to 2016 the Bears have racked up 4 individual state champions and 12 All-State individual performances. These performances have been exceptional and have all come in the field. “Our kids have shown great aptitude to learning their events and our assistant coaches have a mastery of their events. This combination is what has allowed us have success at the state level year in and year out,” Coach Rathke said. Each one of the Bears State Champions James Bailey, Daniel Carson, and Jordon Woods have all graduated but the Bears return a stable of top ranked boy athletes again in the field events, as well as one of the deepest women’s programs in school history. All three state qualifiers, including three all-state performances return from last season.

After having conversations with Independence Mayor Eileen Weir, Coach Rathke accepted the City of Independence’s request to honor the program with a City Council Proclamation. The proclamation will take place at Independence City Hall, during the City Council Meeting, Tuesday September 4th, at 6:00PM.

On behalf of the Bear Track and Field team we would like to invite all bears, former bears, and current athletes and community members to come support our program as we receive a historical recognition. Thanks and see you Tuesday September 4th!
