Boys Varsity Field and Track & Field, Girls Varsity Field and Track & Field · Bears Celebrate Legendary Coach With 58th Annual Meet Bearing his Name

The 58th Annual Bill Summa Invitational, hosted by the Bears, was more than just another track meet on Friday April 5.

It was a celebration of legendary Chrisman coach Bill Summa as well as a celebration of some of the best track and field athletes and performances in the state.

In total, 15 schools competed, 20 meet records were broken and 166 performances made the Top 10 all-time for the meet.

Columbia Rock Bridge brought home the boys’ title and Park Hill won on the girls’ side.

The Bears finished ninth as a team in both the boys’ and girls’ division as several athletes proved competitive against a field full of top state marks and state qualifiers.

Senior Camryn Holloman finished second in both the long and triple jump, improving her current PR and school record to 37’5” in the latter.

The Bears took second in both the boys and girls’ discus with senior Nick Puleo and sophomore Jacque David. David improved her school record in the discus and also took third in the shot put. Senior David Toese took fourth in the boys’ discus. Junior Jenny David was fifth in the girls’ shot put.

Junior Tanner Jolley set a new PR to take seventh in the 1600m. Sophomore Wyatt Leutzinger was eighth in the pole vault.

In relays, the boys 4x100m (Jose Ramirez, Tre Sisco, Cameron Beardsley, Kameron Thompson), the boys 4x400m (Marcus Wigfall, Joseph Greyeyes, Wyatt Leutzinger, Tony Hilton) and the girls’ 4x200m (Adreal Bell, Aniyeja Weathers, Camryn Holloman, Pernya Barrett) all finished seventh.

Although the Bears were successful Friday, a main focus of the event was on Chrisman’s past accomplishments in the sports. Hundreds of alumni cam back to honor and see Summa, their former coach and teacher. Summa was recognized midway through the meet as it was announced that the track would now be named after him and don his name when repainted this summer.
