The William Chrisman varsity basketball team graduated eight seniors last year, including an all-state point guard that is now playing on the #1 ranked team in the country for NCAA D2 basketball. Any time a program graduates that many players there is a lot of teaching that needs to be done. That would have been a tall enough task, but then COVID entered the picture. The new group of Bears have worked extremely hard under crazy, never before seen circumstances. They are ready to hit the court together to prove to everyone that it is their time. The new varsity roster consists of five seniors, three juniors and six sophomores! “We have an incredible group of talented young men and we are excited about what we will accomplish this year as a team”, said Chrisman head coach Jake Kates.
These young men will hit the court for the first time tonight (Monday, Nov 30) in the first round of the Phog Allen Invitational that is hosted at William Chrisman. The Bears will play at 7:30pm against Lafayette High School from St. Joseph, Missouri.
