After an exciting semi final game against Center the Bears had to dig deep to play in their third game in three days. Bingham played their best game of the season and controlled much of the first half and game. The bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead and seemed to be in control. A late rally in the fourth quarter by Raytown sparked by turnovers and a poor free throw shooting percentage on the game allowed Raytown to have a 3 point lead with :03 seconds to play in regulation. Out of a time-out assistant Coach Carlos Alsup drew up a game tying play that would send the game to overtime. Ethan Dias with a pass from Trey Taylor on a tough corner 3 tied the game as time expired. The emotion was high as you can imagine. The bears played to another even quarter as at the end of 1 overtime the score was still tied. To start the 2nd Overtime the bears again built a 6 point lead. Raytown would continue to fight back though. Making several key plays and 3 pointers down the stretch. It a heart breaker for a team which played so well most of the game Bingham dropped to 2-3 on the season with an average loss of 2.5 points in their two tournament games.
Coach Rathke is extremely proud of the way all guys served the team and contributed. The Bears will use these close games to prepare them for future games and grow in their basketball understanding. Next game is Tuesday at Kearney!
