Coach Comments: After yesterday’s loss and a rusty start, William Chrisman doubles rounded into form en route to a 9-0 win over Belton to improve to 6-3. The team victory clinched at least a share of a 3rd straight Conference Championship with one more match next week against Fort Osage. “Our #1 doubles team was particularly overthinking and overdoing it to start today during the first few games but they and the other teams got re-focused on reaching one of our team goals,” said Coach Grubb. On top of all 3 doubles wins, all 6 singles players won their matches by 5 games or more and looked in control throughout. Singles winners were Emma Place, Mackenzie Alfrey, Krystal Olson, Laurie Douglas, Kiara Ashurst, and Tori Gant. “Today’s team win even overshadowed some incredible team history today. Tori got both of her wins today to reach the 100 career wins milestone, which has never been reached in school history. Kiara Ashurst, our #2 is up to 91 wins and #3 Laurie Douglas is at 90 wins so they are climbing up too. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for their coach, Tori Gant is playing too well for them to catch. Having those 3 and the other depth pieces of Emily Mendoza, Emma Place, Mackenzie Alfrey, and Krystal Olson has balanced our team more so even good matchups for other teams are tougher matchups for our opponents,” added Coach Grubb. After a couple of practices, Chrisman is back at it Friday with a makeup match at Winnetonka before 3 of 4 matches next week being at home.
